"We're trying to get the message across that it's okay to ask for help. And if some of us stand up and say 'hey, I asked for help and I'm okay,' then that perhaps will encourage other farmers to actually understand that there's nothing wrong with reaching out."

In 2013, drought conditions created a high-stress environment for Victorian farmers, with many facing significant financial losses. Farmer Power was established to provide somewhere for struggling farmers to turn to for support.

As well as encouraging isolated rural people to reach out and ask for help, it aims to reduce the stigma around mental health conditions and encourage farmers to check in with their mates. Farmer Power also connects farmers online, providing a forum for people to share their experiences and support each other.
