There are a range of training programs, both face-to-face and online, that can assist leaders, managers and employees to understand mental health in the workplace.

National Workplace Program

The National Workplace Program (NWP) is a mental health awareness and training resource beyondblue has developed specifically for workplaces. It supports staff and managers to develop skills to address mental health concerns at work through short, yet well-structured workshops and presentations delivered in the workplace setting.

Psychologically healthy workplace program

This program assesses the psychological health of workplaces, endorsing those which have successfully promoted positive health and wellbeing for employees. All participating organisations are provided with feedback on their strengths and weaknesses, and referred to resources that can help them foster a more psychologically healthy workplace.

Mental Health First Aid course

Like traditional first aid, mental health first aid is a set of practical strategies that support a person who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis, until professional help is sought or the crisis resolves. Workplace training in these strategies is available from Mental Health First Aid Australia, as a standard 12-hour course (delivered over two days or four separate sessions), a self-paced eLearning course or a blended course (eLearning plus 3.5 hour training session).

Workplace awareness, management skills and resilience program

Mental Health at Work (mh@work) is an international body mentoring businesses and organisations to create mentally resilient workplaces. Taking a long-term view of each business or organisation’s unique needs and focusing on mental health conditions, the educational program can be delivered as a workshop or eLearning resources.

Mindful Employer

Mindful Employer is SANE Australia’s mental health in the workplace training program, available to any business nationwide. It can be run as a series of face-to-face workshops, a remote eLearning program or a combination of the two. It can also be adapted to fit the industry and specific workplace roles of participants.
