People with mental health conditions are often excluded or discriminated against with regard to employment, and are disproportionately represented among unemployed people. Despite growing awareness of mental health issues for Australians, a wide range of workplace barriers remain.
The Australian Human Rights Commission is keen to hear from employers on what actions could strengthen the exercise of rights by people with a mental health condition, and what examples of good practice could be shared.
On behalf of beyondblue and the Australian Human Rights Commission, we would like to invite you to attend a roundtable to discuss reflections from the previous consultations in 2015, and inform the final recommendations of the report to the Australian Government. Discussions will focus on employment of people with a mental health condition, and the consultation will be facilitated by the Age and Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Ms Susan Ryan AO.
